10 Reasons Why Everyone Should Take An Acting Class

By

More than a few years ago, I decided to dabble in the world of theatre and film. I had always wanted to be an actor, but thought it was beyond my reach. I was a bit shy, and became extremely nervous when speaking in public. I had no talent that I was aware of, but, I did have an aching desire and a lot of will-power. Since then, I’ve acted in several community theatre productions, one off-mainstream professional production, one feature-length independent film, and two short films. Taking that trip, going out of my comfort zone, and pushing myself to go after what I wanted was definitely worth it.

I learned something about myself by taking acting classes and participating in community theatre. I feel that the lessons I learned were so important for helping me grow as a human being, that I want to share those lessons with you. These are just some of the ways an acting class can help you grow.

5 Reasons What You Want Matters

By

An intense anticipation itself transforms possibility into reality; our desires being often but precursors of the things which we are capable of performing. - Samuel Smiles

From the smallest yearnings to the largest dreams, our wants and desires matter. Every little want that arises counts. Every big dream that stirs from within deserves attention. Funny enough, we are all born knowing this. If you have ever interacted with a small child, then you know that kids take their desires seriously. When they want something, they don’t try to hide it. In fact, they will often fight vigorously to have every desire met, sometimes to the dismay of their exhausted parents.

By the time we grow up, most of us learn to ignore our wants and desires. Instead of doing what we want, we do what is “right.” We are busy with more “important” things than our desires. We become practical, serious adults, who have no time for such nonsense. And so we neglect one of the most beautiful things in life. We ignore our most fundamental right to follow our hearts, until we are no longer ever aware of what it is that we want.

I am here to remind you that what you want doesn’t just matter… it matters a lot.

And here’s why.

48 Hour Cure For The Blues

By

A few days ago, I felt usually down. For the first time in years I found myself joyless and with no zest for life. Thinking about it didn’t help. A good night of sleep didn’t solve the problem either. On the second day of it, I decided it was time to act. So, I did the one thing that I thought would help – I devoted all of my time to doing what I love.

What I am about to propose here is not magic. While it might be enough for the blues and for very early signs of depression, if it has been going on for some time, then I would recommend seeking the help of a professional. Also, taking care of your physical health may be essential to your healing. But it is literally amazing how well it can work, and as there are no side effects whatsoever, it’s worth a shot.
